Former Lancashire and England cricketer Andrew “Freddie’’ Flintoff is one of life’s rascals.
Always up for a laugh and usually up to no good, you can’t but help like the man. And behind the cheerful face, it’s well known Freddie has faced some demons in his personal life.

And it’s not all cricket, Freddie has proved himself to be quite versatile and turned his hand to television presenting, musical performances and even amateur boxing.
The book follows these career moves and shares with the reader, anecdotes, observations and the odd opinion, all told with Freddie’s trademark humour and no nonsense style.
There is even a nugget of wisdom in there. The book tells us about his series winning performance in the 2005 Ashes, the ridiculous impression of Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds’’ in front of a live audience and his take on how to call a spade a spade.
Freddie, who lives with his wife Rachel and their four children in Cheshire, has won many awards over the years including BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2005. Following his retirement from cricket, Freddie joined the panel of the BAFTA-winning A League of Their Own and is now a presenter on BBC’s ever popular Top Gear.
The Book of Fred shares Flintoff’s code for success, happiness and a life fully lived, gleaned from half a lifetime of hard yakka on the wicket, in the dressing room, behind the wheel, in the boxing ring and even treading the boards of a stage musical.
It’s a great idea for a Christmas present and as well as providing a laugh, it might give you a chance to pause for a thought.
