Walking through the doors of the newly opened Hotel Astoria Vienna is like taking a step back in time to the good old days.
The art deco elegance is simply stunning in the hotel’s lobby, where original charms and artefacts have been painstakingly restored.

Having welcomed guests from around the world since it first opened in 1912, it is handily placed on the main Kärntner Strasse, Vienna’s most popular bustling shopping street.
Just a short walk from St Stephen’s Cathedral and the State Opera, the prime location is perfect for visitors. The inside is simple but beautiful, renovated by experts from Verkehrsbuero.
Old style lifts which squeeze in guests and their modern suitcases, float up and down like well-oiled railway lines and the 125 rooms are spread over seven floors.
The accommodation is beautiful, with king sized beds, chandeliers, elegant bathrooms and balcony views onto the main streets. Original coving around the ceiling keeps the old style and mixes in well with the modern amenities.
Suites are particularly impressive, giving the feeling of being in a historic old style Austrian mansion, with thick doors and polished floors.
The Grand Salon is where a sumptuous breakfast is served, with traditional dishes such as Kaiserschmarrn and Fiaker goulash ready to be sampled, along with more regular buffet style food, all beautifully served.
The salon is stylish too, with chandeliers, a grand piano and quality crockery and cutlery, all delivered with panache by the well-dressed waiting staff.
Business can be conducted in a large roomy conference room, which has wonderful views of the main city streets.
Vienna’s highlights include the imperial splendour of Schönbrunn Palace and the Hofburg Palace, the iconic gothic St Stephen’s Cathedral, and the artistic treasures at the Belvedere Palace which houses Klimt’s The Kiss.
Visitors can also enjoy the bustling Naschmarkt, the historic Vienna State Opera and cultural experiences like the Museums Quartier and traditional Viennese coffee houses, all made easier by using the Vienna City Card, which helps cross the extensive transport network.
