Going to the airport is no longer just a case of waving goodbye to home and arriving in an exciting hot spot. There is so much more, as modern wants and demands have transformed airports into entertainment hubs. And its sophistication all the way allowing passengers to indulge before they take to the skies.
Edinburgh Airport is a classic example. Dubbed as “Where Scotland Meets The World”, it’s the busiest airport in the nation and a significant hub for international travel, serving more than 150 destinations with lots of different airlines.
It’s such an accessible airport from the Central Belt, that many travellers opt to drive and there is a huge network of car parks and hotels in reach of the airport and ready to cater for stays while away.
One of the biggest suppliers is Airport Parking and Hotels or APH as it’s affectionately known. With more than 44 years’ experience of providing the services, the family run firm knows how important it is to offer impeccable products which travellers can trust.
Secure Airparks is one of the best for the airport, it’s easy to reach when approaching the airport, with friendly staff and smooth check ins and the best of all, drop off and pick up right at the main doors.
And its latest addition is Drop and Go. Designed for convenience and speed, it’s a simple method of dropping the car off in the main area and then leaving the keys via the computerised box which has all the details and means a quick human less hand over before jumping aboard the transfer bus, which takes three minutes to arrive at the main terminal.
Once inside and the check in and security are dealt with, relaxation is the name of the game and the fabulous Aspire Lounge at Gate 16 is the place to be.
It’s handy for all the low cost airlines and once inside has an aura of calm. By simply handing over a boarding card makes for an easy check in and up to three hours of enjoying the wonderful hospitality on offer, from free non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks to teas and coffees and a buffet of hot and cold snacks depending on the time of the visit.
The best bit though is the relaxing lounge area which looks out onto the runway through huge glass windows.
There is something very therapeutic about doing some plane spotting while enjoying the best of hospitality. And the Scottish twist with a nod to famous son and poet Robbie Burns through a special wall mural, makes it a very special place to be.
Run by Swissport, the staff are very attentive, and the lounges are spotlessly clean and tidy and the strict time limits mean the lounges are never overcrowded.
Booking ahead for both APH and the Executive Lounges means the adventure is ready to begin the minute the holiday officially begins!
