Duckworth Prestex Unveils the Prestex Skeleton

Prestex Skeleton watch

Bolton based British watch brand Duckworth Prestex has unveiled the Prestex Skeleton to reinforce the brand’s continuing ambition to create watches that blend British heritage with international excellence. In this instance, pairing Swiss-made mechanical accuracy with horological craftsmanship in a nod to the golden age of mechanical engineering.

The reliable and durable Swiss Unitas 6498 manual winding movement is at the heart of the 42mm polished stainless steel or more eye catching black PVD case, fitted with a sapphire flat glass lens that is water resistant to 30 metres, making it a very practical everyday watch.

The movement has been carefully skeletonised and left partially open to give an unfiltered view into the rhythm and mechanics of traditional Swiss watchmaking. The movement is visible through both the open-worked dial and a sapphire glass display back so that you can see each bridge, gear and wheel.

The new Prestex Skeleton has a solid 46-hour power reserve and displays hours, minutes and seconds and is very much built for those who appreciate horology not just as a function, but as a form of art.

With this in mind, you can specify two different sets of hands. Either in traditional blue steel for the purists or the more vivid orange Lumed hands for contemporary collectors.

Company founder Neil Duckworth, whose grandfather put together the very first Prestex watch in the Prestons building 100 years ago in 1925, commented:

“When we decided to make a skeleton watch, I wanted to do more than just expose the movement; I wanted to show the very heart of a watch. This Unitas movement has powered watches for decades and now it’s on full display within a captivating framework. I think this watch speaks volumes about what Prestex was and is, bringing our classical values to a modern world.”

The Prestex Skeleton comes in a nice presentation case with a microfibre polishing cloth and is priced at £1,275, backed by a two-year warranty and 30 day returns window. It is available to buy on the Duckworth Prestex website: www.duckworthprestex.com.
