The North

The North Film

Thirty days spent rekindling a childhood friendship in beautiful Scotland is what dreams are made of.

The critically acclaimed emotional drama, The North, released by Tull Stories is the film to watch. Directed by Bart Schrijver (Human, Nature, Memories of You), this acclaimed beauty follows former best friends and roommates Chris (Bart Harder) and Lluis (Carles Pulido) who meet up after a decade to hike Scotland’s West Highland Way and Cape Wrath Trail.

Having taken the same 350-mile walk in their youth, the pair hope to rekindle their once strong friendship by spending 30 days together in the majestic, raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

It’s a story of twists and tales as Chris remains preoccupied with work and life back home, while Lluis is determined to finish the trail to prove he can still do it.

Amidst the sweeping landscape, harsh weather and chance encounters with other hikers, the solitude and silence of the trek force the pair to confront truths about themselves and their friendship and find out what it truly means to stand still and listen.

The North is shot on the route of the walk and in chronological order and is an ode to friendship and the healing power of nature.

It’s a poignant and powerful drama and also a hiking film, allowing the viewer to see the stunning majesty of The Highlands shoulder-to-shoulder with Lluis and Chris as they reconnect with nature.

Johnny Tull of Tull Stories said:

“We are delighted to bring The North to audiences in the UK and Ireland. For me, this is a story about embracing adventure and finding yourself in the heart of nature. It’s about stillness and pausing for breath. This is something we could all do with right now. I can’t wait to see how audiences find spending time with Chris and Lluis and walking that amazing route shoulder-to-shoulder with them.”

Director Bar Schrijver added:

“For me The North is almost a love letter to the Scottish Highlands. And for that reason, I am really happy that the film will play in UK cinemas. While making the film, we really hiked 300 kms through the mountains, we camped, we slept in our tents and in that way, we experienced the Scottish outdoors. The best way to experience the outdoors of course, is to be out there, but I hope we can give you that experience in the cinema as well. I hope that people will see how absolutely beautiful their country is. The first responses I get from people who have seen the film in previews and festivals in the UK are heart-warming. Together with Tull Stories, we are bringing the Scottish Highlands to your cinema this Spring. I am excited and a bit nervous to find out what the people of the UK think of our film.”

The North is 131 minutes long, certificate 15 and is released in cinemas in the UK on Friday 24th April 2026. For more information, please visit: www.tuesdayfilm.com.
