The Clock House, Istanbul

Ajwa Hotel Sultanahmet introduce their latest Ajwa Home

The second in the series of luxurious Ajwa Homes, The Clock House, has just opened in Istanbul. This rather unique house makes for the ideal base for families wanting their own space for either a short or long stay in this thriving and energetic city and is located in Istanbul’s Old City.

This luxury home offers a contemporary private living space as well access to all the facilities at the nearby five-star Ajwa Hotel Sultanahmet. You may be wondering where the name comes from, well it pays tribute to the clock that is visible on the roof of the building.

Clock House Double Bedroom with en suite

You couldn’t really ask for a better location, as The Clock House is within easy walking distance of all the museums, bazaars and major mosques in the city. This includes the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, the Grand Bazaar and Basilica Cistern.

And if you are a keen historian, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the many centuries of history Istanbul has to offer from the splendours of Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic Kucuk Ayasofya Mosque and the municipal verdant Cundi Park are also close by.

Marble Bathroom

The design of this unique house is very much in keeping with a traditional Turkish home but with some added sophistication. The Clock House has four floors and three bedrooms. The living area are open plan and spacious and there is a fully equipped kitchen in the basement – a dream for any aspiring chef! The Penthouse offers partial views of the sea of Marmara and the master bathroom even has its very own sauna in which to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

The bedrooms offer plenty of space and are fitted with king size French beds. The twin bedroom is ideal for children and all three bedrooms have their own marble en suite bathrooms with those lovely Molton Brown amenities I like so much.

Top Floor Living Room area in The Clock House

The top floor of the house is home to the large living room which is perfect for a relaxed family evening or for entertaining guests. It is covered with glass that can be opened to create a wonderful open-air terrace with great views.

There are some lovely bespoke paintings on the walls around the house that have been painted by local artist Kubilay Şenses, who is well known for his paintings of Istanbul.

Dining Room and Kitchen

While The Clock House offers all the privacy of a private home, you may not want to cook for yourself all the time. With that in mind, the hotel’s chefs are available on request, ideal should you be entertaining one evening. You can also take advantage of the hotel’s full housekeeping and maintenance services.

Beyaz Konak, the first Ajwa Home, is just 40 metres away from The Clock House.
