TRIBE Manchester Airport

People make places and that is the motto adopted by the staff at the newly opened TRIBE Manchester Airport hotel.

Like a breath of fresh air, the young team from reception to food and drink service are full of energy, good humour and professionalism.

Started in Australia, 2017, the hotel chain, part of the Accor hospitality group, has adopted the country’s laid back mantra and everything is cool and modern and most importantly, functional.

And the big bonus for the Manchester Airport hotel is its closeness to the terminals and the bus and train station, along with the huge car park for long stays. The happening city centre is easily accessible with diverse attractions from the Premier League football stadiums of city and united to the bustling Northern Quarter.

Despite being in walking distance of check in, it’s on the tip of the airport curtilage, so there’s no major noise or light disruptions, meaning a great way to relax before or after flying.

Opened in October last year, it follows hot on the heels of its sister hotel in London’s Canary Wharf and is geared up for business meetings and private diners as well as holidaymakers. Once inside the terminal, a great way to relax before the flight is in the new upmarket Escape Lounge which is swish and has plenty of room to chill out and enjoy the complimentary refreshments, newspapers and Wi-Fi.

Check in at the hotel is swift and access to the 412 stylish rooms, easy. With floor-to-ceiling windows, fabulously comfy big beds and all decorated in trendy colours, it’s what you want. No frills but stylish, with hanging space for clothes, up to date television and tea and coffee making facilities. Add that to a top notch bathroom with a light up mirror and strong power shower with fresh smelling toiletries and it’s a great base.

Downstairs is where the action is and the Social Hub which again is light and airy and full of super comfortable chairs with space for work or play. And there’s a state of the art fitness studio kitted out with equipment to keep you lean.

There’s a Grab & Go counter with Barista drinks and homemade snacks and dishes, with everything from wild berry smoothies to a Panuozzo of Parma ham, burrata and rocket or simple salad of egg, avocado, spinach and tahini.  Airport workers can pop in too with a 15 per cent discount. The TRIBE bar serves up delicious signature cocktails from mojitos to spritz with an Italian twist.

And in the TRIBE Restaurant, it’s all Italian too, with a funky menu including Stuzzichini’s from meatballs in tomato sauce and ricotta to calamari, Amalfi lemon and verde mayonnaise. There’s a great range of antipasti too, from pumpkin soup to beef carpaccio, rocket, black olive and mustard. Mains range from traditional pasta dishes of beef lasagne or paccheri, black truffle and parmesan or margherita, four formaggi pizzas to grilled seabass with wild broccoli salsa verde and veal alla Milanese and Amalfi lemon.

Desserts will whet the appetite with Venetian tiramisu, mixed berry pannacotta and ice cream sorbets a real draw. A substantial breakfast is on offer too with great choices to get the day off to a good start.

But for all the good food, drink and facilities in the world, it’s the people that matter. And a big shout out to Lewis who supervises the restaurant, no mean feat with the big turnover of guests.

From welcoming everyone like friends to a dinner party, to attentiveness throughout the meal, Lewis is the epitome of TRIBE’s philosophy which is making the hotel the place to be.
