Let’s face it – it can be messy when determination gets the better of you and you head out for an off-piste run.
Forget the mud, wind, rain or terrain, if your mind is on blowing away the cobwebs and getting going, then there’s no stopping you.
So it’s a good job that the footwear experts Oboz are on hand with some seriously good trail gear to keep those feet in fine fettle.
The Sawtooth X Collection has just been launched with fanfare and a promise to “reimagine them for a new day and a redefined purpose.’’
“X marks the catalyst that ignites imaginations and spurs feet into action – whatever the steep climbs, technical descents, mud, dust, wind, rain, or mind-melting views in the foreground, X also signifies the moments of truth – goals crushed, terrain charged, adventures stacked up and celebrated – the Sawtooth X collection resets the expectation.’’
That’s the promise, but what is the reality? Well after giving them a go in the wet and windy hills of the Scottish Lowlands, I can report they are every bit as good as the blurb on the box.
They retail at £125, so an expensive bit of kit, but they are good, very good. The Sawtooth X collection is the most tested, trail-perfected shoe in Oboz’s history and it is testament to the enormous amount of research and development involved, that the shoes are top notch.
With improved performance, increased durability and a redefined fit and contemporary modernised look, the shoes come in low and mid types.
With special outsoles for superior traction and a new adaptive cushioning technology midsole, it adapts to the terrain and gives the runner a smoother ride. This unique blend of dual density, lightweight cushioning system provides the wearer with a high level of energy efficiency and a softer heel strike landing zone. The range comes in a number of differing colours to suit all tastes.
And to encourage you to buy, Oboz plant a tree every time a pair of shoes is sold and the firm encourage sports enthusiasts to try out new trails or promote favourite ones. A great way to meet new people and show off your new shoes!
