With still another couple of months to go before we can hopefully get back into a restaurant and enjoy a meal out, Hot Stone in Islington is continuing to offer a takeaway and home delivery menu which includes a boxed up version of their renowned Omakase experience so you can enjoy Hot Stone at Home!
Executive Chef Padam Raj Rai has created a menu that is easily transportable to the home and features an abundance of à la carte favourites as well as some new exciting Nepalese dishes. For special celebratory dinners, such as a special date night or perhaps a birthday, the Hot Stone Omakase box takes you on a 24-step culinary journey of authentic and innovative Japanese cuisine to make the evening a memorable one.
Hot Stone’s home menu is quite different from many of its Japanese counterparts, as the chef has consciously selected the finest ingredients available to ensure that you have the best possible at home dining experience. Fresh and sustainable fish, seafood and vegetables are locally sourced wherever possible, however the traditional ingredients come directly from Japan. So, for example, you can expect Sanpuki Nori grown at the shores of the Ariake Sea, premium Koshihikari rice, which is widely considered to be the best sushi rice, specially grown in Japan, a range of aged soy sauces, which are up to 30 years matured, and a fabulous selection of Wagyu cuts, including A5 Japanese sirloin and real freshly grated Japanese wasabi.
The home menu also offers a wide range of signature sushi, hot and chilled sashimi, carpaccio and maki, all hand shaped and freshly sliced to order. You’ll also find 48 hour marinated Black Cod with saikyo miso sauce, Japanese Wagyu don and grilled avocado with passion fruit and spicy mayonnaise.
Seeing as we can’t go out and celebrate special occasions at the moment, Hot Stone have created a fabulous 24-piece Omakase box, which is priced at £110, so that you can enjoy an at home celebration in style. The Omakase box arrives ready to be unwrapped in traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth, and features nigiri – think scallop with truffle and caviar, and Scottish salmon glazed with 3-year aged soy sauce – and sushi rolls to share, filled with Japanese Wagyu sukiyaki, tuna and salmon.
Chef Padam has also added his own personal touch to the menu, offering a choice of traditional Nepalese plates such as Alu Dum, which is a traditional potato dish rich with spices and fresh coriander, Gundruk, Nepal’s unofficial national dish of carefully fermented shredded vegetables, and sweet Yomari, a festival dish of steamed rice flour dough filled with molasses and sesame.
When it comes for the perfect drink to go with your meal, why not add homemade rice wine or made to order cocktails when you place your order, made with fresh Japanese wasabi and gin or perhaps a variation on the Old Fashioned of muddled cloudy sake and Japanese whisky.
