Girl on boat enjoys comfortable holiday

No one really enjoys feeling worn out from travel, but most of us have been there and sometimes feel like our experience is blessed by it. Those long days of rushing between connections, dragging heavy bags around and trying to squeeze in every single activity can leave you needing a holiday from your holiday, coming back never feeling as rested as you could. But should you have to drop thousands on first-class everything to relax and enjoy convenience, luxury even? Luckily no, if you make smart choices that let you actually relax and enjoy your time away (with a bit of pre-planning), you can just soak into the experience in a relaxed way.

You’d be amazed how much more pleasant travel becomes when you stop trying to pack every minute with activities. Many experienced travellers have learned that doing less often means enjoying more – so take it at a slower pace if you can. That way you give yourself space to soak in the experience without feeling exhausted – which also lets you notice the little details you might have missed.

But how do you do this? Let’s explore that, below.

Clever transportation choices

The way you get around can make or break how relaxing you feel – we’ve all had a nightmare long-haul flight that makes us feel like half the person we were before it, and all we did was sit down!

But why not make travel part of the holiday? Some people love the ease of luxury motorhome hire because they can move at their own pace and always have their belongings with them. Others could prefer booking direct flights even if they cost a bit more, knowing they’ll avoid the stress of tight connections, especially if they have children to think about. Some might even enjoy a slow boat trip instead of a super quick efficient ferry, just to take in the sights. You’ll be sure to have a nice time.

Learning to pack light

You don’t need four outfit choices for each day – honestly, no one notices if you wear the same shirt twice or just keep one jacket you like with you. A small, well-planned set of clothes means less to carry, less to worry about and an easier time getting around too. Bringing just your favourite comfortable clothes means you’ll actually wear everything you pack, and you won’t constantly question why you took up 40 per cent of your luggage space on items you don’t need. It’s a skill, but you can learn it.

Convenience can be a luxury

Staying somewhere more central might cost more upfront, but you’ll save energy not having to march across town every time you want to do something. Being able to pop back to your room easily means you can take breaks when you need them (something most appreciate), and split up your day naturally, which helps you avoid that exhausted feeling that comes from being out from morning until night or dealing with stressful drives in a place you don’t really know.

With this advice, we hope you can more easily get used to travelling comfortably, especially if you’ve been tired from work this year but still want to relax.
