Brightening up an otherwise dull and grey January, German watch and clock manufacturer Junghans have just launched the 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2026 with three bold and bright dial colours. Only 200 examples of each new orange, turquoise and green timepiece will be available to purchase.
These new sporty-cool watches will certainly brighten up the new year and following the 2024 and 2025 editions, this is the third and most striking set of watches in the series.
The sporty look of the new timepieces is complemented by a high-quality appearance with a strikingly designed case and a number of fine details such as the counterclockwise rotating bezel and the crown and pushers that fit perfectly in line with the design of the case.
The matte-finished dials of the watches have colour-coordinated double stripes running down the middle. The turquoise and green dial models display a dynamic white double stripe down the middle, while for the orange version has a vertical double stripe lacquered black.
All three coloured dials have the numeral 6 as a racing start number and feature hands coated with environmentally friendly white luminous substance, which contrasts rather well with the darker dials and ensures excellent readability in poor light.
The historical logo on the dial refers to Junghans’ traditional connection to motor sports. This can also be seen in the design of the colour-coordinated perforated leather straps much like the style of traditional sports driver‘s gloves.
Inside the 43.3mm stainless steel case which is water resistant to 100 metres, you will find a Quartz Calibre J645.83 movement that powers each watch. Giving the wearer both a chronograph as well as the date and a 24-hour display, times can be stopped precisely to one-fifth of a second.
Not only does Junghans showcase its sportsmanship with its sporty watches, but the company also sponsors top athletes and sporting events. There is a long history and tradition in sports timekeeping at Junghans that dates back to the 1920s with the first hand-operated stopwatches. It has been the official timekeeper at car races, skiing world cups, rowing and track and field competitions over the years.
The limited edition 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2026 watches are priced at £890. For more information please visit: www.junghans.de.
