Schooner Dallinghoo

Imagine discovering uninhabited islands and waking up in quiet anchorages to the sound of waves gently slapping against a wooden hull.  Now you can do just that enjoying a yachting vacation sailing on board a traditionally styled schooner.

Available for charter in Southeast Asia, the 30-metre luxury yacht Dallinghoo combines the classic design and romance of a tall ship with the all comforts of a modern yacht.

This splendid top masted gaff schooner was built in in South Africa during 1990 to a classic style from the design table of Dudley Dix.

Her current owners totally rebuilt over a two-year period from 2014 to 2016 and put her to work in 2107.

Dallinghoo now charters throughout South East Asia and depending upon the season can mostly be found in the Andaman Sea, including Myanmar, Thailand, Langkawi and the Andaman Islands from November to May each year.

From June to October, she tends to cruise the South China Sea including the Anambas Islands, Malaysia’s East Coast and North Borneo.

Spacious Accommodation

On board accommodation offers charter guests flexible accommodation options, she has in the main guest section: 5 cabins, 4 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. The Captain’s Cabin for example is fitted out to the equally high standard as the other cabins and if guests prefer to use it rather than the twin the captain and his wife move to the twin cabin to allow the guests the use of 4 double cabins.

The ‘Master’ cabin and ensuite bathroom spans the full beam of the yacht’s aft section. Extremely spacious for a yacht of this size and type it features a double bed and with a 32″ LG Smart TV. The bathroom facilities include a shower, toilet and basin and there is plenty of storage space.

The ‘VIP’ cabin lies on the starboard side of the main saloon and has double bed.  It too features a 32″ LG bulkhead mounted Smart TV. The ensuite facilities include a shower, toilet and basin and again there is plenty of storage space.

Water toys

Swim, snorkel and dive into tropical warm waters and stroll along white sand beaches while back on board your Thai chef prepares gourmet food and cool drinks.

Dallinghoo is jam-packed with water toys that guests are free to use.

A 4 metre RIB packs plenty of power when it comes to getting guests ashore or dropping them off to walk the sands in a deserted bay.

A 12-foot (3.65 metre classic Gaff Rigged sailing dinghy offers a more peaceful way of exploring the bays and lagoons in which Dallinghoo anchors.  As are the Hobie Mirage sport sea kayaks and stand up paddle boards.  Fancy a spot of fishing, then get the crew to set up the trolling game rods or better still the light spinning fishing rods.  For those qualified to go scuba diving the yacht carries 8 sets of scuba equipment and two petrol driven portable diving air compressors.

Available for whole boat hire through charter brokers Northrop & Johnson Asia, Dallinghoo charters from US$ 23,000 per week plus expenses.
