Winter Lodge On The Terrace At St. Ermin’s

The weather may be rather frightful outside here in London at the moment and not all of us can jet away to sunnier climbs or a ski resort in the Alps over Christmas, so the St. Ermin’s Hotel close to St James’ Park, has decided to bring a bit the Après Ski atmosphere to their bar terrace and created a wonderful fully enclosed cosy Winter Lodge over the festive season.

The hotel’s terrace has been transformed with a warming log burner and tartan throws to keep you warm when sitting on the very comfortable sofas, and where you can enjoy something to eat and drink throughout the day.

King's Ginger Hot Chocolate

As a special treat this year, a King’s Ginger Liqueur has been added to the Winter Lodge bar menu with three specially crafted drinks. They include a warming King’s Hot Chocolate, accompanied with a chocolate stick, whipped cream and marshmallows. The King’s Negroni is made with No. 3 Gin, red vermouth and an orange twist, while the King’s Fizz is an invigorating mix of sparkling wine and lemon zest.

The history of King’s Liqueur is that it was a favourite tipple of King Edward VII and was created in 1903 by Berry Bros. & Rudd and Buckingham Palace’s Royal Physicians to boost the King’s physical health during the winter months.

Winter Lodge Food

Turning to 2019 and the eve of a new decade, it still makes for the perfect winter pick-me-up, and is particularly delicious when added to Hot Chocolate!

The menu also includes some winter warmer cocktails such as a Mulled Wine, a Sizzling Ginger, made with Irish whiskey, ginger beer, lemon sour mix and St. Ermin’s Honey and a Spiked Tea, made with rum, apple juice and cinnamon. There is also a Negroni Collection and specially created Whisky Flight accompanied with some tasty shortbread. And if you fancy a beer instead, well they offer a craft beer as well as some bottled beers. They’ll also make you a warming cup of Latte, ranging from a Tumeric Latte to a Ruby and creamy Matcha Latte.

Winter Lodge Scotch Scallops

Of course, there’s nothing like having a little something to munch on when enjoying a drink with family and friends and so St. Ermin’s have put together a delicious selection ideal for this Winter Terrace setting. You can choose some Arbroath Smokie Fish Cakes, Game Terrine, Wild Mushrooms on Toast, Scotch scallops, good old Smoked Salmon or some Lamb & Haggis Meatballs. And why not treat yourself to a rather decadent St. Ermin’s Deconstructed ‘deep-fried Mars Bar for dessert or a slice of Warm Dundee Cake.

So whether you just want to stop by for an afternoon hot chocolate with friends or pre-dinner cocktail before wondering over to the hotel’s superb Caxton Grill for dinner, the Winter Lodge on The Terrace makes for the perfect winter escape here at the St. Ermin’s Hotel.
