Celebrate Easter With Cazcabel Coffee Tequila

Chocolate eggs are synonymous with Easter today but in years gone by, eating eggs was in fact not allowed by church leaders in the week leading up to Easter. Eggs laid that week were instead decorated to make them ‘Holy Week Eggs’ and were then given to children. It was the Victorians who adapted the tradition with satin-covered cardboard eggs that were filled with Easter gifts.

Chocolate eggs first appeared in France and Germany in the 19th Century, they were however rather bitter and hard but as chocolate-making techniques improved, hollow eggs like the ones we have today, were developed and became extremely popular and are to this day a favourite tradition at Easter time.

We therefore thought we’d take this Easter tradition a step further and share a slightly more sophisticated way to enjoy chocolate this year with a Cazcabel Coffee Tequila cocktail.

Cazcabel Coffee Tequila blends the fresh and earthy base of Cazcabel Blanco Tequila with a roasted sweet hit of luxury arabica coffee from the coastal region of Soconusco in Mexico. It’s a tequila that can be used in creative cocktails like the Cazcabel Coffee Tequila Mexican Alexander with an added touch of chocolate.

Cazcabel Coffee Mexican Alexander Easter Cocktail

To make the Cazcabel Coffee Tequila Mexican Alexander you will need 40ml Cazcabel Coffee Tequila, 10ml White Chocolate Liqueur, 50ml double cream, a pinch of sea salt and some grated nutmeg and melted chocolate.

Take a Nic & Nora glass and place it in the freezer until it’s freezing cold. To create the chocolate rim, melt milk or dark chocolate, depending on your preference, in a heat resistant bowl over boiling water, and be sure to stir regularly so it doesn’t burn. Dip the rim of the frozen glass into the melted chocolate, then holding the glass straight, rotate it in order to coat the glass and allow the chocolate to run down the edges for a special chocolaty effect.

Having prepared the glass, you will need to shake all the cocktail ingredients together with cubed ice and then double strain into the frozen Nic & Nora glass before garnishing it with some grated nutmeg for the perfect Easter cocktail.

Cazcabel Coffee Tequila RRP: £24.99 for 70cl. ABV: 34%, available from: shop.cazcabel.com, Master of Malt and Amazon. And for the perfect Easter gift, Cazcabel Coffee Tequila is also available in a stylish wooden presentation box for £26.99 from shop.cazcabel.com
