Cunard And Disney Cruises Unveil UK Summer Sailings

Cunard and Disney Cruise Line have become the latest cruise companies to offer summer holidays to UK passengers.

In the space of a week Viking, P&O Cruises, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, MSC and Princess Cruises have all announced itineraries for a mix of cruise-only round-Britain scenic sailings and cruises with a limited number of stops at UK destinations.

Cunard is now offering UK guests the opportunity to spend this summer at sea with a series of voyages of round-trip Southampton sailings on Queen Elizabeth. The three to 12-night cruises, starting on July 19th and running through to October, will be divided between 10 British Isles Voyages and three Sun Voyages. The itineraries go on sale on March 31st and will be available to COVID-19 vaccinated passengers.

The British Isles Voyages will be a mix of scenic sailings and four cruises with port calls including Liverpool, Greenock, Invergordon, Belfast, Newcastle and the Welsh port of Holyhead – a maiden call for Cunard. The destinations on the Sun Voyages will be guided by the weather forecast.

Cunard President, Simon Palethorpe, said:

“Cunard’s Summer at Sea luxury UK voyages are a truly unique way for guests to have a much-needed break this summer. With international travel not yet fully opened up we’re delighted to offer these voyages exclusively for British guests to experience a staycation unlike any other, as they relax in Cunard luxury knowing we will take care of everything.

“Guests can sail along some of the most stunning coastlines anywhere in the world, as Queen Elizabeth provides a unique vantage point, or sail on one of our Sun Voyages where the destination is unscripted and is guided by studying the weather forecast and heading to where the sun shines brightest.”

The Disney Cruise Line itineraries will offer UK families the chance to sail close to home aboard Disney Magic. The series of cruise-only two, three and four-night holidays will sail round-trip from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool and Southampton. The exact dates for the cruises, which are scheduled to open for booking in April, have yet to be announced.

The voyages will feature a full entertainment programme for adults and children including the chance to meet favourite Disney characters, shows in the Walt Disney Theatre, various dining options, family pools and waterslides and adult-only retreats including a secluded pool and spa. Health protocols will include COVID-19 testing, health screenings, face coverings, reduced guest capacity, social distancing and enhanced cleaning.
