Hats For All Seasons

Trekmates Flare Cap

Protecting your head and skin during summer adventures is one of the most important aspects of travelling which many people miss.

Leading outdoor experts Trekmates take the care seriously and have launched a new range of headwear which protects.

The Borneo Hat (£30) is for the serious traveller or those heading to Scotland and set for the invasion of midges! It’s a lightweight, mosquito-repellent wide brimmed hat, with a built-in midge head net and UV50 plus protection.

The Gobi Hat (£27) is a floppier version of The Borneo, again a lightweight mosquito repellent wide brimmed hat, with a floatable brim and 50+ UV protection.

For those who prefer bucket style hats, the Mojave Hat (£27) is a lightweight mosquito-repellent hat with a neat zip away legionnaires flap and UPF 40+ protection.

The Flare Cap (£22) is a lightweight mosquito repellent peaked cap with breathable mesh panel side panels, giving it a very contemporary look as well as UV protection. And The Shine Cap (£22) is also a mosquito repellent cap, but this one has a rollable peak as well as the breathable side panels.

All the hats in the range are machine washable, have wicking brow bands and are very lightweight, designed to protect when travelling but also easy to pack away when not use, with some even having individual stuff sacks.

The range comes in cool colours and sizes to fit all, and free postage is available for orders over £35.

Trekmates was formed in 1997 in a garage in Nottingham by Chris Prentice with the aim of creating good value protective outdoor gear. Today the firm is dedicated to protecting the environment, so much so that it is a huge supporter of Buglife, the only conservation of all invertebrates, who are actively working to save Britain’s rarest little animals.

In January, the Trekmates Team pledged to double the funding for the Ladybird Spider Project. A tiny spider, that was rediscovered on a Dorset heathland in 1980, where only a few individuals remained. Since then, Buglife have been working on the project to carefully manage the Ladybird spider population. Each year a few spiders are moved on to new heathland sites, with the aim of establishing more sites where the spider can thrive naturally. Trekmates has designed a range of junior gloves with a silicone spider pattern forAW21 to support and raise awareness of the Ladybird Spider Project and the Buglife organisation.
