Well, it’s week two of Lockdown 3.0 here in England and January’s gloomy weather does not help matters as we are told to stay inside and not have any interaction with family, friends and colleagues apart from the same people we have been living with for the last nine months.
Our high streets are deserted apart from a small number of ‘essential shops’ remaining open and restaurants and pubs are all but boarded up for the foreseeable future. So, thank goodness for some restaurants offering a takeaway service so that you can take a break from cooking at home once in a while and enjoy something cooked by someone else for a change.
January is also perhaps proving to be a bit more challenging this year for vegans and those of us who like to stick to a vegan diet at the start of a new year.
There is however some good news for those of you who live in London, as Rudy’s Vegan Butcher in Islington has recently launched a Click & Collect service, giving Londoners a chance to stock up on plant-based favourites as part of their ‘essential shop’.
So, whether you’re vegan, wanting to have a Veganuary or just a little vegan-curious, the UK’s first permanent vegan butcher is making staying home a little bit easier during this third national lockdown.
Some of the favourites you can expect to find at Rudy’s include homemade baycon and pastrami, black puddin’, dirty burger patties and soysage rolls.
Everything is freshly prepared for you, all you need to do is simply place your order online, then pop by the butchers on Upper Street in Islington and collect your goodies ready to take home and enjoy.
In addition to the Click & Collect service at Rudy’s Vegan Butcher, Rudy’s Vegan Diner is also operating a takeaway service from their diner in Camden. You can order a home delivery via Deliveroo every Thursday to Sunday between 11:30am to 9:00pm and enjoy one of their mouth-watering Buffalo chick’n burgers or a classic Rudy’s Reuben with layers of vegan pastrami, cheeze, grilled, topped with crispy onion, pickles, sauerkraut and Russian dressing. And if you fancy a few sides, then how about their ‘mozzarella’ sticks with spicy marinara sauce!
