The film in question Sicario 2: Soldado. The sequel to the tense hit of 2015 Sicario.
Picking up where the first left off, it reunites Academy Award winner, Benicio Del Toro, with Academy Award nominee, Josh Brolin, as they embark on a covert mission in Mexico.
Sicario 2 starts with a bang and doesn’t really stop. But don’t think this is the sort of action that would be at home in the hands of Michael Bay. No, Stefano Sollima of Subura (2015) and Gomorrah (2014) fame, takes a more calculating approach to the violence leaving the audience to almost start to feel uncomfortable (hence the stiff drink). It is within this methodical approach to the action that the beauty of the film can really be appreciated.
Josh Brolin plays his role with charm and poise, but after a busy summer of fighting superheroes you get the feeling he is on auto-pilot. It is Benicio Del Toro that steals the show, adding depth and humanity to the taciturn hitman. But he will still empty a clip into you if he needs to. ¡Adiós!
Luckily for me during all the bullets, explosions, tension and Spanish I had a perfectly made Wild Turkey 101 Old Fashioned.
Not that anyone should ever have to justify ordering this timeless classic, but if you do, just stay as cool as Senior Del Toro and let them know:
“For an Old Fashioned you are looking for a big bourbon that can stand up in terms of flavour. The Everyman is the perfect host for not only bold cinema but bold bourbon too. All in all I would give the evening 4 wild Turkeys out of 5.
