Maurice Lacroix AIKON Automatic Skeleton 39mm and 42mm

Following customer feedback, Maurice Lacroix has launched three new versions of the AIKON Automatic Skeleton in response to the popularity of the monochromatic 39mm timepiece originally released back in 2022.

This particular watch was housed in a 39mm stainless steel case, featured brushed and polished surfaces and had an open-worked movement positioned underneath a clear sapphire dial. It was powered by the exclusive Automatic ML115 calibre, made in collaboration with movement specialist Sellita.

What people particularly liked about the watch was the open-worked structure that allowed light to weave its way through various openings, illuminating numerous movement components that are normally hidden from view.

These three new additional versions of the AIKON Automatic Skeleton have been designed with the same monochromatic grey theme as the 2022 version, but this time the AIKON Automatic Skeleton is also available in a larger 42mm case (with either a blue or grey dial) as well as the 39mm version (with a blue dial).

The Swiss brand regularly commissions research, canvassing opinions from both retailers and customers alike, an approach the company has taken for many years. For example, 15 years ago, feedback from the market indicated a great affection for a former model of the 90s, the Calypso. As a result, Maurice Lacroix created a modern interpretation of the model, releasing the debut AIKON in 2016 which has proved to be the company’s best-selling collection.

With its contemporary urban look, the AIKON collection has grown to encompass numerous references, executed in a variety of materials, sizes and styles to meet the requirements and desires of its customers.

That said, Maurice Lacroix recognises that some winning elements should never be altered. For example, all new versions of the AIKON Automatic Skeleton are equipped with the popular ML Easy Strap Exchange system that allows the wearer to adapt the look of their watch by simply swapping the bracelet for an alternative with just a few easy clicks.

The new watches have a sapphire crystal front glass and case back with an anti-reflective coating. The bezel features an eye-catching six “claws” design and screwed crown. The sapphire dial is finished in two colours, either a translucent blue or translucent grey varnish and grey flange while the hands are rhodium-plated with white super-luminova. Fitted with an automatic ML135 calibre movement, they have a power reserve of 38 hours and are water resistant to 200 metres making them a comfortable and practical everyday watch with a perceived high value.
