Orient Star M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition

Japanese watch manufacturer Orient Star has just launched the M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium from their Sports Collection M42 which is limited to just 365 pieces.

This limited edition timepiece commemorates the 60th anniversary of Orient’s divers’ watch, reinterpreting the design elements of the original Calendar Auto Orient 1 which was released back in 1964, and is a modern twist that meets current ISO 6425 standards.

With its special colour scheme combining lightweight, durable titanium with gold-coloured accents, this latest model should appeal in new and different ways to divers’ watch fans and watch aficionados looking for exceptional timepieces.

This limited edition 60th anniversary model features titanium on the 41mm case and bracelet, which makes it around 35 percent lighter than stainless steel models and therefore an ideal divers’ watch for both daily and regular sports use. In addition, there is a protective coating on the titanium that hardens the surface so that it can endure any harsh environment. Titanium is also well known for its resistance to corrosion, seawater and sweat. Another added benefit is that it is considered to be hypoallergenic making it the ideal material for divers’ watches.

Water resistant to 200 metres and ISO 6425 scuba diving compliant, the M42 Diver 1964 has a dual curved sapphire crystal lens and anti-reflective coating, making this tough timepiece well able to withstand harsh diving environments. The grey-toned titanium colour and matte finish together with the gold-colour emphasise its appearance as a diver’s watch. The dark grey dial with vertical hairline finish has matte gold-coloured accents around the Luminous Light indices making it easier to read in poor light and the dark.

There is also gold colouring with matte finish on the scale and numbers of the rotating bezel’s aluminium insert, giving it a striking appearance against the grey titanium.

At the heart of the watch is an in-house calibre automatic (with hand-winding) F6N47 movement, giving stable high accuracy and a 50-hour power reserve with an indicator which shows the remaining power reserve. Whilst most Orient Star models come with a power reserve indicator as standard, it is actually quite rare to find this feature on a divers’ watch.

The 60th anniversary M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium model is available to buy from the Orient UK website, priced at £999.99.
