Japanese watchmaker Seiko has unveiled the Seiko Presage Classic Series x Tradman’s Bonsai Limited Edition in collaboration with Tradman’s Bonsai, a leading Japanese bonsai collective that blends centuries-old horticultural traditions with contemporary fashion, lifestyle and design.
This new exclusive watch is limited to just 2,000 pieces worldwide and has been designed to celebrate the enduring beauty, craftsmanship and philosophy of bonsai.
The crescent-shaped bonsai “moon” pot has been the inspiration behind the new timepiece, which is a symbol of harmony and balance in bonsai culture.
Capturing the serene image of a black pine bonsai illuminated by moonlight, the watch dial is finished in Matsuba-iro, which is a deep green shade seen in pine needles, a traditional Japanese colour associated with longevity, resilience and immortality, and regarded as a symbol of good fortune. There is also a newly developed embossed pattern that evokes the texture of aged pine bark, giving the design remarkable depth and character.
The textured dial is housed underneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface and is brought to life by elegantly curved hands that reflect the light perfectly.
Water resistant to 100 metres, the 38mm gold-coloured plated stainless case and bracelet offset the rich green dial. An additional strap embossed with a traditional three-pronged pine pattern is also included and offers an alternative look that celebrates the watch’s connection to nature.
This limited edition watch is powered by Seiko’s in-house 6R51 automatic calibre, giving an accuracy of +25/-15 seconds per day and an approximate 72-hour power reserve. The case back is marked with the words “Limited Edition” and incorporates a serial number adding to the timepiece’s exclusivity.
The Seiko Presage Classic Series x Tradman’s Bonsai Limited Edition is available to pre-order from Seikoboutique.co.uk, priced at £1,250 and includes a special presentation box that has been created exclusively for the limited edition model, with deliveries starting later this month September.
