CORD Café by Le Cordon Bleu Afternoon Tea

CORD Café Afternoon Tea

Last week was Afternoon Tea Week and so I thought it only fitting to write about a new offering at CORD Café by Le Cordon Bleu in the City of London, who recently launched their first-ever Afternoon Tea.

Located just off Fleet Street, near St Paul’s Cathedral, this Parisian-style café and bakery offers a touch of French elegance to this much-loved British tradition with a selection of delicate pâtisserie, gourmet savoury bites and of course, unlimited tea from the Chiswick based small, independent Curious Tea Company, all freshly made by Le Cordon Bleu-trained chefs.

Le Cordon Bleu has been renowned globally for its culinary excellence for over 130 years and brings its legendary savoir-faire to every element of CORD Café. And none more so than this new and rather indulgent Afternoon Tea offering that celebrates their artisanal skill with an exquisite selection of freshly made pâtisserie, gourmet savoury bites and of course, one of my favourites, the traditional scones.

So, what can you expect with your Afternoon Tea? Well, firstly you will be able to enjoy a delicious savoury selection of pulled beef brisket baguettes, turmeric smoked salmon focaccia, red pesto chicken panini and oyster mushroom panini.

That is then followed by a rather indulgent sweet selection of Paris-Brest, Apricot Thyme Entremet, Chocolate, Caramel and Peanut Butter Entremet and some macarons.

Then of course, there are the traditional warm scones served with lashings of clotted cream and jam which you will be able to wash down with an unlimited amount of tea from the Curious Tea Company and if you really want to treat yourself, a glass of sparkling wine.

Reasonably priced at £28 per person or £42 per person if you add a glass of sparkling wine, CORD Café’s Afternoon Tea is perfect for tourists exploring the historic heart of London or city workers looking for a midweek treat and indulgent tea experience and is available Monday to Friday between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

Whilst it is advisable to pre-book in advance, the tea is also available for walk ins.
