Tiempo Tequila Reposado Cristalino

Mexican drinks company Tiempo Tequila has just launched its first batch of Reposado Cristalino Tequila here in the UK. Each of the 1,320 limited edition bottles have come from 2,555 days of meticulous work and patience in order to produce this pure, sustainable and beautifully versatile spirit, which is a product of time and true labour of love that includes no additives or chemicals to ensure its purity.

Tiempo means ‘time’ in Spanish. And it has taken six years to create this beautifully light and pure tequila, using traditional methods alongside a modern mindset.

Crafted from 100% mature blue weber agave, grown and harvested in the Altos and Valley regions of Jalisco, where tequila was born, Tiempo has called on the talents of Master Distiller Augustin Sanchez Rodriguez to create a pure Tequila that is both free from any additives and has no chemical intervention in its process.

This fifth-generation family of distillers, slow-cook Tiempo for 48 hours before it is carefully fermented using natural yeast for a further 60 hours. It is then distilled twice before spending up to one year ageing in American oak whiskey casks. The liquid gets its unique persona through the filtration process, giving a smooth, pure and complex palate that balances subtle undertones of butter and caramel with notes of beautiful earthy agave. A truly versatile drink, Tiempo’s barrel notes make it light for sipping but also perfect for using as a simple mixer or in a cocktail.

Tiemop’s beautifully crafted bottle is made with recycled glass and uses sustainably printed and inked labels with natural cork and a wooden stopper, simply allowing the liquid inside to do the talking.

As well as creating a 100% naturally grown agave tequila, Tiempo is also working towards ensuring its practices are sustainable by providing living wages for both its growing and production team, with a focus on sustainable agave farming in the fields, cutting CO2 emissions, reusing agave waste and bottling the Tequila with recycled glass and materials where possible.

Talking about the release of Tiempo Tequila’s first batch, Co-Founder, James Hughston said:

“It takes time to create a tequila that is pure, sustainable, and beautifully versatile, but also respectfully reflects Mexican tradition and Cantina culture. This is a celebration of Mexico, its craft and the people who make it possible – not the inauthentic celebrity saturated market, nor sub-par liquids consumers, unfortunately, associate with the spirit.”

Tiempo Tequila is currently available to enjoy at a selection of London bars including Mariachi, NTs Loft, Leytonstone Tavern, Dona, The Ram Inn and Hacha. It is also available to purchase online at Amazon, House of Malt, Master of Malt and via the company’s website tiempo-tequila.com priced at £54.99 (70cl, 40% ABV).
