More plant-based food options and an expanded Martini bar menu are among the newly announced features on Celebrity Cruises’ latest ship Celebrity Ascent.
The 3,260-passenger vessel, the fourth in the design-led Edge series, will set sail in December. In the run-up to the launch, the cruise line has revealed a host of new features that will run alongside some of the familiar favourites found on the other three Edge ships: Celebrity Edge, Apex and Beyond.
Celebrity Ascent will showcase a new plant-based tasting menu at Eden restaurant, which the line says is designed to bring passengers “closer to the earth through a culinary journey rooted in untouched, fresh and seasonal ingredients”.
Le Petit Chef – where a 3D projection is screened onto plates and tables before each course is served – will have all-new animation and menu to match. The fine dining speciality restaurant Le Voyage, created in partnership with international Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud, has been redesigned with décor inspired by the chef’s travels, and the main dining room Cosmopolitan has a new look based on the theme of Champagne. Also new is an outdoor terrace at Blu, the clean-cuisine restaurant which is exclusive to guests staying in AquaClass cabins.
Bar offerings will feature a bigger menu at the Martini Bar, with more low-sugar cocktails mixed with fresh ingredients, and the Craft Social bar will offer a selection of high-end bourbons and new tasting seminars. In total the ship will have 30-plus places to eat and drink.
Elsewhere, Celebrity Ascent will have popular amenities found on its sister ships. The most unique is The Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered glass-enclosed panoramic platform on the side of a ship that can be moved between different decks and used as a lounge, bar and restaurant. As seen on sister ship Beyond, Ascent will also feature AquaClass Sky Suites, where perks included extra amenities and access to the spa styled by award winning British designer Kelly Hoppen. The ship will also have a redesigned art gallery which will host art events.
Celebrity Cruises’ President, Laura Hodges Bethge, said:
“I am so excited to introduce the world to Celebrity Ascent and continue the legacy of Celebrity’s Edge Series. First launched in 2018, the Edge series transformed what cruising could be and its ships like Edge, Apex and Beyond quickly became consumer favourites. Continuously striving to offer travellers a better way to enjoy travel and reach the world around them, we are so proud of what we have built and look forward to welcoming both seasoned and new cruisers alike.”
After being launched in Florida the ship will sail out of Fort Lauderdale on a season of Caribbean cruises and in April 2024 will transfer to Europe for a summer of sailings in Greece, Turkey, Spain and France.
