Scottish based independent distiller Eden Mill has made its range of premium gins and single malts available at the world-famous prestigious AA five star Old Course Hotel St Andrews, through two unique immersive experiences.
Eden Mill’s soon-to-be completed distillery is located less than 10 minutes from Eden Mill at the Old Course Hotel, which is now open to the public offering two distinct experiences that include a Coastal Gin Flight and the Eden Mill Single Malt Flight.
The gin and whisky experiences are hosted in a private tasting room on the fourth floor of the hotel, opposite the Road Hole Bar that overlooks the 17th green on the Old Course.
You will enjoy a welcome drink at each session which is an educational showcase of each spirit by expert brand experience ambassadors and a chance to sample the range. You will also get an overview of the Eden Mill story and plans for the new distillery that will be opening just up the road from the hotel.
The Costal Gin Flight, priced at £28, takes you on an immersive taste of the St Andrews coastline, celebrating local botanicals and Eden Mill perfect serves. You will explore how each gin takes inspiration from the iconic Fife coastline, which influenced the brand’s origin story, as well as learning about key coastal botanicals, many of which are sourced locally.
You will get to explore Eden Mill’s three core products with this flight, starting with a refreshing Original Gin & Mediterranean Tonic, garnished with grapefruit, before trying the Original Gin neat, as well as the best-selling Love Gin followed by the aptly named, botanically rich, Golf Gin.
At the end of the experience, you can select your favourite gin and the host will help you create a ‘perfect serve’ that’s designed to complement and enhance your chosen gin’s flavour profile.
The Eden Mill Single Malt Flight, priced at £40, is very much designed for whisky lovers and introduces you to Eden Mill’s premium whiskies, taking you through four drams from bourbon maturation and sherry finishes to an elusive ‘mystery dram’. The session explores Eden Mill’s core range of whiskies, showcasing the brand’s signature Lowland spirit style and masterful use of cask maturation.
You will begin with a whisky highball using The Guard Bridge Blended Malt Scotch and ginger ale, which is a classic serve to whet the palate and introduce you to the Eden Mill house style. The tasting includes the Bourbon and Sherry flagship Single Malts, as well as an unreleased mystery dram from the distiller’s blending room. The session will then wrap up with the 2023 Art of St Andrews hero expression which is matured in ex-Cognac casks. You will come away from the session having learnt about each whiskies’ maturation style, cask influence and flavour profile.
