Nespresso recently launched its summer collection of refreshing iced coffees with some new limited edition flavours paired with specially designed accessories to compliment the new drinks. Collaborating with Pantone they have created a bright colour palette for the new collection which reflects the essence of summer, echoing those pretty Mediterranean seaside towns and include a Mandarin Orange shade, alongside Habanero Gold, Muskmelon, Aquarelle and Blue Iolite.
In the hope that some of that Mediterranean weather might make its way over to our shores, I popped into Nespresso’s Regent Street Boutique for an exclusive masterclass to try some of the new limited edition ice coffee recipes. Here I was treated to their new “Sunny Almond Vanilla Over Ice” for Vertuo coffee machines, which is a smooth and refreshing flavoured coffee with a light-roast blend of Arabicas, reminiscent of a Mediterranean cruise. This new flavoured coffee has its own unique Habanero Gold packaging, designed in collaboration with Pantone.
To recreate this “Golden Sunrise Delight” recipe at home you will need an Aeroccino, small Barista recipe glass and lemon zester along with 230ml of Sunny Almond Vanilla Over Ice, 120ml of Barista oat milk, 15ml of honey, 2 ice cubes and some lemon zest for a garnish. Simply add the ice cubes and honey into the glass, add milk into the Aeroccino and froth using the cold foam setting. Then pour the cold milk foam into the glass and extract coffee on top and finally garnish with almond flakes, lemon zest and a drizzle of honey for a summer taste that combines honey and lemon zest for a little extra sweetness.
Mainstays in Nespresso’s summer collection include the “Coconut Flavour Over Ice” for those of you, who like me, still use an Original Nespresso machine with the smaller original capsules, while “Tropical Coconut Flavour Over Ice” is created for those of you who have the newer Vertuo machines.
The “Cold Brew Style Intense” for Vertuo is a smooth, silky and bold texture coffee with sweet caramel notes, giving a profound character without any bitterness. You can also continue to enjoy “Freddo Delicato” and “Freddo Intenso” for Original and “Ice Leggero” and “Ice Forte” for Vertuo, which are part of Nespresso’s seasonal Barista Creations for Ice.
Another new recipe for this summer includes the “Seaside Cream Cold Brew” recipe, which is Nespresso’s take on a traditional cold brew, blending the Cold Brew Style Intense with caramel syrup, topped with shaken cream, salt and ice.
If you fancy creating another imaginative summer coffee with your Vertuo machine, then the “Azure Coconut Escape” is a great summer recipe to try. You will need a Nespresso barista recipe device and large Barista recipe glass, 80ml Tropical Coconut Flavour Over Ice, 170ml milk, 15ml Almond Syrup, 6 ice cubes and edible cornflower petals for a garnish.
Put the 6 ice cubes, almond syrup and 70ml of milk into the barista recipe glass, then add the remaining milk into the barista milk device and froth using the ‘Espresso on ice Macchiato’ setting, Pour the cold milk foam into the barista recipe glass and extract the coffee on top using the ‘coffee creations mode’, and then finally garnish with the edible flowers for the perfect summer serve.
If you are a Nespresso subscriber then you can also take your summer coffee experience a step further by buying one of their summer-ready machines and accessories that complement the new collection, each decorated with Pantone’s bright summer colours and iconic Pantone chip. For example, the Vertuo Pop and Essenza Mini coffee machines are reimagined in limited edition Mandarin Orange, while the milk frother Aeroccino 3 also gets a Mandarin Orange makeover for the summer. Even the Nomad Travel Mugs, Iced Coffee Nomad Tumblers and Ice Cube Tray have been given the summer look with the collections Pantone colours.
