For those of us who love skiing, the ski season is almost upon us and what can be better than enjoying the beautiful alps, clear air and great food, along with a touch of luxury at the end of hard day’s skiing in your very own luxury ski chalet.

Many skiers flock to the French Alps every year, as the French are blessed with some fabulous ski resorts at high altitude, guaranteeing wonderful ski conditions and plenty of snow in some breathtaking scenery. But trying to find the best resort and place to stay can be challenging and very much depends on your individual needs. Chalet Edelweiss, Rhone-Alpes, France

Conveniently close to the town centre, Chalet Edelweiss is a stunning example of France’s glittering choice of ski chalets. On stepping through the door, you can’t miss the magnificent art on the walls of this 3,000 m² property that is spread over seven beautifully furnished floors, offering a wealth of space and ideal for families. The chalet has a real rustic alpine feel to it thanks to the extensive use of opulent wood that is blended neatly in with contemporary and classical furnishings.

Prices start at around $4,583 per week.

Ski chalet bedroom

Chalet Zermatt Peak: Zermatt, Switzerland

If you crave breathtaking views of the Matterhorn each morning as you have your breakfast, then Chalet Zermatt Peak has it all, along with walnut floors, Italian marble, Murano crystal chandeliers and lavish furnishings. This chalet offers the height of luxury, fit for any Hollywood star and has five sumptuous bedroom suites, while the master comes with its very own Jacuzzi. Chalet Sirocco: Verbier, Switzerland

Verbier has always been a popular ski resort and Chalet Sirocco has everything that you could possibly ask for in a luxury ski chalet. It’s situated high up in the Verbier mountains and offers dining in luxury along with generous living space, making it the ideal chalet for group holidays. The chalet’s fabulous wellness area offers indulgent pampering to recover from a long day on the slopes with its swimming pool, waterfall, sauna, Hammam and massage room.

There is even an entertainment zone down on the ground floor which is sure to keep the kids amused and happy whilst the adults enjoy an evening in their own company upstairs.

Prices start from around $64,000 per week in the low season.

Chalet lounge

Hunter Ski Chalet, Morzine, France

Morzine in the heart of the large Portes du Soleil ski area in the French alps is home to the Hunter luxury ski chalet which is renowned for its lavish interior design, premium services and dedication to making it ‘the perfect holiday experience’ for their customers. When staying at Hunter Chalets, you can choose from both catered and self-catered options in their programme, that range from a 6-person apartment right up to a 20-person chalet.

Guests staying in catered chalets are treated to a professional chef, host and driver to get around the resort. And if you’re a foodie, then you’re in luck, as each one of their chefs have at some point worked in one of the UK’s most prestigious restaurants or hotels and developed a reputation of being incredibly versatile in their cooking through their willingness to adapt and change some of their dishes to suit your dietary requirements. Chalet Eden Rock: St Anton, Austria

One of Austria’s most popular ski resorts is St Anton in the Arlberg ski region, which offers extensive skiing for both beginners and experienced skiers. Here you will find Chalet Eden Rock, situated in the tranquil Nasserein area. This outstanding chalet offers a blend of traditional architecture with a stylish interior. It was once nominated as ‘Austria’s Best Ski Chalet’ and it’s no surprise really. Designed by an award-winning architect, the chalet’s wooden-clad entertainment spaces with open fireplaces accentuates a genuine rustic feel, allowing you to relax in total comfort. The chalet’s three apartments are both grand and luxurious, and come with beautifully furnished double bedrooms, gorgeous living spaces with open fireplaces and cosy dining areas with private terraces that enjoy the sun.

On the lower level you will find a fully fitted spa to sooth those aching muscles at the end of the day. The spa has a large swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jet stream and massage room. And if you’re still feeling energetic after a day’s skiing, then there is also a fitness area.

Prices start at around $35,000 to $89,000 for a week’s stay and exclusive use of the property.
