Dorchester Collection’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée launched its redesigned and transformed Dior Spa at the end of September, with the aim of positioning the spa as the ultimate space for Parisian wellbeing.
The two brands have enjoyed a strong relationship since 1946, when Christian Dior opened his first store opposite the hotel. It was therefore no surprise that the House of Dior selected Hôtel Plaza Athénée as the perfect destination for its Institut Dior back in 2008. And in September Christian Dior redefined the very essence of Parisian wellbeing with this completely redesigned luxury spa that offers a holistic sanctuary with cutting-edge treatments restoring the equilibrium between body and mind.
The five treatment rooms include a couple’s treatment room, sauna and hammam, as well as a new Dior Light Suite, which offers an innovative light therapy, and a first for a Parisian Palace spa. Light therapy is used to synchronise circadian and chronobiological rhythms that influence daily wellbeing, energy levels, sleep patterns and the skin’s health.
Dior has crafted three exclusive tailor-made rituals using different light intensities and the latest technology, designed to help realign your body’s biological clock, alleviate stress and revitalise energy, which can in turn help to overcome jet lag as well as fortifying your body and skin against the rigours of daily life.
The spa also offers three unique rituals – Recharge, Recover and Rest – carefully chosen to cater to diverse facets of wellness and relaxation, giving you an unparalleled experience.
The Recharge ritual awakens both body and mind, harmonising your biological clock and emotions. It starts with the gentle glow of dawn, gradually intensifying into the brilliance of midday sun whilst you are bathed in the soothing blue of the sky as the body reawakens.
The Recover ritual envelops you into the luminosity of the day, culminating in a warm amber twilight that aids recovery and a restful night’s sleep, leaving you feeling completely relaxed with a soothing massage and restorative nap phase.
The Rest ritual invites you to unwind as the sun sets in the evening as a prelude to a relaxing night’s sleep, offering a true decompression chamber before bedtime. The ritual alternates between sensory stimulation through light and soothing massages to alleviate muscular tension, interspersed with moments of relaxation to reduce physical and mental stress.
As well as two new treatments that have been specially created for Hôtel Plaza Athénée, there are also four three-hour rituals that address specific needs for the body, face and mind, and are Dior D-Tox Therapy, Dior D-Stress Therapy, Dior D-Vibe Therapy and Dior D-Fit Therapy.
Adjacent to the Spa is a state-of-the-art Fitness Studio which is dedicated to physical and mental fitness with a range of activities that include yoga and meditation. Personal training can be arranged with the Spa’s new partner Gymate, a local fitness company that creates unique private spaces with a personalised approach, coupled with highly qualified professional coaches.
The Spa also has a relaxation area in which to unwind both before and after your treatment with fresh fruit and vegetable juices as well as a selection of herbal teas, dietary supplements and Dior Wellness accessories.
The Dior Spa Plaza Athénée is open daily from 11:00am to 7:00pm with treatments starting from €150 only available by appointment. For more information and to book a spa treatment please call +33 (0)1 53 67 65 35 or visit: www.dorchestercollection.com.
