German watch brand MeisterSinger, renowned for its Swiss made single-hand watches, has unveiled the Pangaea Aventurine in deep blue natural stone.
A genuine aventurine stone is used for the dial of the new watch series. This deep blue stone and precious natural material from the quartz family, makes each timepiece unique to its owner. Its characteristic shimmer, created by finely dispersed mineral inclusions, is extremely captivating to the eye.
It reflects the light to create the so-called aventurescence, which is a special sparkle with a lively effervescence that makes each dial completely unique.
MeisterSinger is one of very few watch brands to use aventurine stone for its dials, as only a particularly high-quality, uniformly coloured and structurally suitable aventurine can be used for watchmaking. The precious natural stone needs to be cut, ground and polished with precision and without breaking or cracking before it can be used as a dial, making the craftsmanship a highly complex process.
When we talk about watches, the term “aventurine” usually refers to a type of sparkling glass. In other words, a synthetically produced material that merely resembles the genuine mineral. But with MeisterSinger, the watchmakers use authentic aventurine quartz that is naturally formed and unique in terms of its structure and brilliance.
The Pangaea Aventurine design follows the classic line of MeisterSinger’s much-loved “365” models. This means that the typography is reminiscent of historical dials, giving the watch a nostalgic feel to it. The gold-coloured, multi-printed numerals stand out to create a sophisticated three-dimensional effect. Fine dots are used to signify the passage of time rather than the usual 5-minute line markers and the exquisitely crafted MeisterSinger hour hand is a nod back to an era when watches were still worn on a chain.
Sitting inside the 40mm stainless steel case is the reliable, Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours, which can be seen through the six-fold screwed exhibition glass back. It is fitted with a Cognac coloured cow hide, oak tanned strap and is water resistant to 50 metres (165 feet), making it a very practical everyday watch.
