Inspired by the British Hawker Hunter jet, known for its pioneering performance and record-breaking capabilities, AVI-8 recently launched the new Hawker Hunter Atlas GMT Automatic, which is the latest evolution of the aviation watchmaker’s Hawker Hunter collection.
This new model, which has been created with travellers, explorers and aviation enthusiasts in mind, is housed in a 44mm 12-sided stainless-steel case, inspired by aircraft cockpit instruments. At its heart is the NH34 Japanese automatic GMT movement which provides dual-time functionality with an additional GMT hand and a 24-hour rotating bezel that allows for the tracking of a third time zone. It is also water resistant to 50 metres., making it a practical everyday watch.
The Hawker Hunter Atlas GMT Automatic has been designed for durability and readability with its dial inspired by the instrumentation in the Hawker Hunter’s cockpit. It has Swiss Super-LumiNova on the hands and indexes for clear visibility in poor light and there is a skeletonized hour hand and a slim, triangular-tipped GMT hand. The multi-layered dial design is another nod to the world of aviation.
The unidirectional turning bezel, outfitted with an aluminium plate, adds an element of durability and eye-catching aesthetic to the watch, while the exhibition caseback gives a clear view of the precision-engineered movement inside.
Each of the six models are fitted with a premium, comfortable genuine leather strap with contrasting stitching, reminiscent of military aviation heritage.
With six different colour versions to choose from, including Devil Black, Earth Blue, Amazon Green, Mist Grey, Retro Blue and Orangish Red, the new AVI-8 Hawker Hunter Atlas GMT Automatic is available to purchase at Avi8.co.uk, priced from £345 to £365 and comes with a two-year warranty.
