Rollers Forever

Rollers Forever Musical

A night of tartan Tam o’ Shanters and half-mast trousers brought memories flooding back for fans of the epic Bay City Rollers.

The audience at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow embraced the cultural clothes and sang along to the famous songs of the 70s at the epic Rollers Forever musical.

The show is in tribute to the Scottish rock pop band who sold nearly 300 million records during their 14 years together.

Writer Danny McCahon tells a lovely warm and funny story of how two life-long friends reconnect on a Saturday night out and reminisce about their teenage years during Roller-mania.

Jenny (Fiona Wood) and Susan (Chiara Sparkes) look back at how their childhood was filled following the hit band who sparked hysteria wherever they went.

Director Liz Carruthers and musical director Dale Parker, ensure the show is full of warmth and nostalgia, with the audience singing along to all the famous songs like “Bye, Bye Baby” , “Shang-a-Lang” and “I Only Want To Be With You”.

The chemistry between Jenny and Susan is real and the two provide some hilarious comedy moments which had the audience in stitches.

They are joined by Susan’s brother Alec (Liam Harkins) who is equally funny as he tries to impress the girls with his cheesy chat up lines and cool hair do. The cast is made up of Rachel Campbell, Andy Clark and Clare Nolan.

The story goes back in time as the girls remember a time when they were determined to meet up with their heroes and their favourite band members, Les McKeown and Stuart “Woody” Wood.

There’s live music from Tyler Collins on guitar, bass player, Gregor John-Owen and drummer, Lauren MacDonald and they bring the tunes to life as the story evolves.

Scottish stage designer Karen Tennent has created a bright and lively set, and the theatre jumps with the enthusiasm of colour and creativity.

But it’s the songs the audience have really come for and it’s a joy to see the enthusiasm as the place jumps with the popular tunes from 50 years plus ago but are instantly remembered with love and happiness.

This feel good musical is what the Bay City Rollers were all about, fun, friendship and fabulous music.

Rollers Forever is on at His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen from 21st to 24th October and the King’s Theatre, Edinburgh from 27th to 31st October 2026. For ticket availability, please visit: www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
