Book your transport ASAP
We’re going to recommend that you book your transport from the airport asap so that you don’t end up paying through the nose or are unable to get transport without waiting hours for it. For example, a fantastic choice for your stay is Portonovi, a luxurious resort village, in which you will find One&Only resort, Montenegro’s hidden gem! With beautiful mountain and sea views, it’s hard to imagine that anyone wouldn’t wonder at the beauty of this place. If you book a taxi from Tivat Airport to Portonovi, it should cost you around 80 euros if you book it far enough in advance.
As well as this, if you know that you have any longer trips from where you are staying, book transport for these in advance too. It gives you peace of mind and makes your trips easier.
Visit the Bay of Kotor
The Bay of Kotor is a beautiful fjord-like bay on the Adriatic sea, meaning that it boasts some of the most beautiful scenes that you will ever see. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for being a strange shape thanks to a large portion of it being submerged. It formed as the result of a submerged river canyon and is actually made up of four smaller bays that are all connected.
Head to a monastery
There are so many monasteries in Montenegro, be sure to see at least one while you are there. They are steeped in history and the buildings are amazing, if you like architecture then this is certainly something for you. Holy Trinity monastery is one example; this was built way back in the 16th century and is still standing today.
Hike in a National Park
Finally, how about a hike through a national park? This can give you a whole new perspective when it comes to visiting Montenegro. You can see amazing views for miles in some places, and you will certainly want to take pictures everywhere you go. There are five gorgeous national parks across Montenegro, and you will want to see them all while you are there. You can catch a glimpse of all landscapes, from the snowy mountains in Durmitor to the rocky setting of Lovcen.
Be sure to pack accordingly as you don’t want to be caught out while hiking or skiing. The last thing you want is to have a dead cell phone or run out of water half way up a mountain.
