Four Seasons Bahrain Bay Spa and Wellness

A pampering treat with the Spafternoon package of Lunch and Massage at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bahrain

The Four Seasons Hotel is a sight to behold, with its iconic tower rising 201 meters above the reclaimed island it sits on.

With its own private beach, opulent marble-floored lobby boasting two-hundred-year-old olive trees and its penthouse-level restaurants that provide 180-degree views of the Gulf, a stay in this hotel is the ultimate experience in luxury.

Particularly if you’re going to avail of its palatial spa, the second biggest spa in the Four Seasons portfolio. With its modern Turkish and Moroccan inspired interior design, the spa encompasses four interconnected buildings woven together with pathways and gardens with a modern design filled with natural light.

I was lucky enough to indulge in the Spafternoon package (available Sunday to Thursdays), an offer that includes lunch in the Four Seasons’ incredible Bahrain Bay Kitchen and a choice of two massages, a deep tissue one to relieve tension and fatigue, or a soothing aromatherapy massage that will ease stress and calm the nervous system).

Choosing to go with the relaxing aromatherapy option, I arrived in the morning, an hour before my booking as recommended, in order to take advantage of some of the spa’s incredible facilities, beginning with the steam room, the pool and the salt inhalation room (great at reducing inflammation and detoxifying the lungs). There was always a helpful member of staff at hand to guide me to the different facilities, the shower and lockers, the massage room and so on.

Of course, the spa has all the complimentary cosmetics available, such as shampoo, body lotions and creams and so on, plus there is the small Pavia Boutique, just outside the spa entrance, where you can purchase items such as designer swimwear, sunglasses and other resort necessities.

When it came time for my massage, I was given a choice of several organic oils to use, along with an explanation of their properties, and the massage itself was so good it nearly put me to sleep there and then.

A warming ginger tea brought me back to my senses in the relaxation room, after which I decided to treat myself to a stylish wash and blow-dry in the hair salon (not included in the package). By this time, my belly was grumbling that it too needed some TLC. Feeling like a beautiful pampered princess, I finally headed to the Bahrain Bay Kitchen for brunch (which doesn’t start before 1:00pm).

What a sight for sore eyes (or an empty belly!) as I approached a magnificent buffet of five unique food stations serving lavish Arabic, Indian, Japanese, Chinese and Western delicacies.

I was happy simply to feast on the varied dishes available and chose some of the sweetest freshest fruit juices I have ever tasted to go with it.

The entire experience was one of the most enjoyable and most luxurious of anything I have ever done. From the magnificent architecture to the delectable cuisine, from the friendly helpful staff to the heavenly scents, soothing music and stunning interiors…

Indulging in the Spafternoon package at the Four Seasons in Bahrain isn’t just a treat, it’s a necessity!
