Orient Star M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding

Orient Star Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding watch

Japanese premium watch brand Orient Star recently launched two new M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding models from its Classic Collection M45. This includes both a regular and limited-edition model consisting of just 140 pieces.

While the regular model depicts the moon in the still of the night and slow passage of time, the limited-edition model portrays a mystical scene of the star cluster Pleiades and the moon.

Consisting of classical designs, the Classic Collection M45 symbolises the grandeur of the universe and eternal passage of time with themes connected to the star cluster Pleiades. With its minimalist design, the new M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding model expresses the theme of “a graceful passage of time” and consists of hour and minute hands to tell the time along with a power reserve indicator and moon phase display, both being typical Orient Star features.

The white dial of the regular model has a fine radial pattern of the dial and a thick, clear coating applied with a wrapping technique which emphasise the blue leaf-shaped hand against the elegant glossiness of the background, giving the watch a sense of sophistication. The long minute hand extends to the minute scale, with its tip slightly rounded, mimicking the curve of the dual curved sapphire crystal glass which has an anti-reflective coating on both sides to display the exhibition case back.

The grey gradation dial of the limited-edition model portrays a beautiful scene of the star cluster Pleiades and the moon mysteriously glowing in the dark. The dial has a stamped pattern expressing the countless stars of the M45 Pleiades star cluster and a monotone gradation transitioning from grey in the centre to black on the outer edge. It also features multiple rounds of pad printing on the Roman numerals to create a sense of contour and shading, while the grey hands with two different finishes and silver-coloured dots express the most radiant stars in the Pleiades star cluster.

At the heart of both the regular and limited-edition models are a newly developed hand winding in-house calibre F8A62 movement, housed in a 39.5mm slim stainless steel case, equipped with an in-house silicon escape wheel and 70-hour power reserve.

The case is fitted to a black Cordovan leather strap with a trifold deployant buckle and push button release. Both watches are also water resistant to 30 metres, making them a comfortable and practical every day wear.

The new Orient Star M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding models are available to buy from the Orient UK website, priced at £2,699.99 and make for a perfect Christmas gift.
