With the sun and warmer weather making a welcome return this week, we thought we would take a look at some summer cocktails from Cotswolds Distillery that you can make at home to go with a family barbeque or simply enjoy out in the garden as the sun goes down on a warm summer’s evening.

Cotswolds Dry Gin

The Cotswolds Caipirotswold is the perfect refreshing cocktail with a grapefruit zest to help cool you down on a warm summer’s day. It’s made with 60ml Cotswolds Dry Gin, 10ml sugar syrup and 4 wedges of grapefruit. Muddle some wedges of grapefruit in a shaker and transfer the contents into a rocks glass, add Cotswolds Dry Gin and sugar syrup. Then stir, add crushed ice and garnish with a wedge of juicy grapefruit.

The Cotswolds Distillery is celebrating the Cotswolds Morris dance, which originated from Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire, with their Cotswolds Morris Dance Cocktail which is a combination of sweet fruity citrus with crisp bitter herbal notes and gives a long malty finish. It’s made with 30ml Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky, 25ml Gentian Liqueur, 25ml Orange Liqueur, 3 dashes of grapefruit bitters. To make it, simply pour all the ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker, then stir and strain into an ice filled rocks glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and zest of grapefruit.

Cotswolds No. 1 Wildflower Gin

Cotswolds No 1 Wildflower Gin was launched this spring and offers a blend of cornflowers, lavender and orange layered over a classic London Dry Gin. It was inspired by the wildflowers growing in the glorious grasslands of the Cotswolds.

To prepare, you will need 50ml Cotswolds No1 Wildflower Gin, premium tonic water and some slices of orange. Simply add ice to a copa glass and pour in Cotswolds No 1 Wildflower Gin. Then top it up with premium tonic water and garnish with a slice or two of orange to add a refreshing summer touch.

The Cotswolds Distillery also recently launched its seasonal edition, Cotswolds Summer Cup, which uses their Cotswolds Dry Gin as a base. This is blended with a splash of handcrafted triple sec and the distillery’s own vermouth, giving you a bold and robust fruit cup with a perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness and is the perfect cocktail when entertaining friends at home. To prepare, fill a large balloon glass with 1 part Cotswolds Summer Cup over lots plenty ice. Then top with two parts lemonade or ginger ale and garnish with fresh fruit. Simply increase the recipe if you want to make a refreshing jug to go around.
