With much of the country finally enjoying some warm summer weather, many of us are looking forward to some alfresco drinks and meals on summer terraces, and with that in mind, we thought we would share a few summer cocktail ideas you can prepare at home.
First up is the award-winning and made-for-mixing Monkey Shoulder, which is a versatile whisky designed to be sipped in a summer cocktail such as the popular Ginger Monkey. Mixing the cocktail is very easy and requires 50ml Monkey Shoulder, 120ml dry ginger ale and an orange wedge.
Simply fill a long glass with ice and pour 50ml of Monkey Shoulder followed by 120ml of dry ginger ale. Then stir and garnish with the orange wedge for the perfect summer cocktail.
Another easy-to-make summer cocktail is the Monkey Colada, which requires 40ml Monkey Shoulder, 20ml koko kanu (coconut rum), 60ml coconut water, 10ml fresh lime juice, a pineapple chunk and leaf, and a dash of sugar syrup.
To prepare, add all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Then add a dash of sugar syrup to suit your taste and pour the ingredients into a tall glass and garnish with the pineapple chunk and leaf for a deliciously refreshing drink.
Monkey Shoulder is a smooth blended whisky made for mixing and liked for its versatility. Its flavour mixes the rich, fruity and mellow but is bold enough to stand out in a drink and balanced enough not to overpower it. Monkey Shoulder was also named the ‘World’s Top Trending Scotch’ five years in a row, and more recently voted as the second Best Selling and Top Trending Scotch whisky brand in Drink International’s 2021 Brands Report.
Monkey Shoulder is available for purchase at £27.50 (RRP 70cl) online from Clink*, Amazon, Master of Malt and from Morrisons and Sainsburys.
Also perfect for summer cocktails are premium pre-batched cocktails from Batch & Bottle that include Hendrick’s Gin Martini and Reyka Vodka Rhubarb Cosmopolitan. Meaning all you need to do is simply chill, pour, garnish and enjoy with friends when entertaining at home on a warm summer’s evening.
