Here You Come Again

Dolly Paton in Here You Come Again

Country and western singer Dolly Parton is timeless when it comes to good music.

The pint sized singer’s tunes are the sort which leave a smile on your face every time you hear them.

And the audience at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow embraced the sounds with gusto as Here You Come Again, hit the stage.

The story sees Kevin (Steven Webb), a lost 40-year-old stuck in the attic of his parents’ house in a Northern town during the Covid pandemic.

His boyfriend, Jeremy (only heard, not seen) is blowing hot and cold and Kevin’s future is looking bleak.

That is, until the glitz and glamour of Dolly Parton (Tricia Paoluccio) magically walks in through the bedroom door.

Dolly brings positivity to Kevin’s life and helps him find his inner strength and confidence.

The show is really an excuse to belt out some of Dolly’s best numbers.

And Tricia does this brilliantly. With a powerful voice and stage presence, she literally sings her heart out, much to the delight of the audience.

Favourites include Here You Come Again, 9 to 5, Islands in The Stream, Joelene and Love Is Like A Butterfly are lapped up by the audience, who happily sing and clap along and even sway the torches on their mobiles, such is the fun atmosphere.

With a colourful set, costumes and backing music and vocals from Aidan Cutler, Charlotte Elisabeth Yorke and Austin Garrett, the show directed by Gabriel Barre is a real audience pleaser.

Musicians Jordan Li-Smith, Luke Adams, Ben Scott and Kevin Oliver Jones really keep the movement going and guarantee a happy night out for the Dolly fans, many of them donning cowboy gear in a nod to their heroine!
