Gazing out to the ocean from St Andrews rooftop bar, the sun sparkling on the shimmering water, I’m tasting one of the world’s top-rated gins served with local garnishes for a unique Cypriot flavour.
Head mixologist George is as knowledgeable as you would expect in a top five-star resort hotel. And the new rooftop bar – one of the latest additions to the Asimina Suites Hotel in Cyprus – is the perfect place to enjoy the views as I’m introduced to a ‘Monkey 47 and tonic’.
The bar is all part of an extensive six-month renovation which has added an entire new fifth floor to the hotel, Including new deluxe superior suites with fabulous views.
Reopened in May 2026, I am one of the first guests to stay at this beachside adult-only destination, a short drive from Paphos harbour.
Luxury, attentive staff, panoramic sea views and generous living spaces complete with marble bathrooms all come as standard. But what makes this Constantinou Bros hotel unique is that (as the name suggests) it is the only hotel on the island consisting entirely of suites.

Staying at Asimina Suites
A warm and inviting welcome sets the tone on arrival as I am ushered into a separate ‘check-in’ lounge, greeted with chilled champagne and delicious canapés and allowed to relax after my journey.
Personal service is key, eager staff are always seen to deal with any query. My suite is on the second floor with views over the two interconnecting outdoor swimming pools.
Whichever suite you choose you won’t be disappointed. All are luxurious, with separate bedroom and living areas, smart TVs and luxury espresso machines. Plus, late check-out as standard, a massive perk if your return flight home happens to be later in the day like mine. A nice touch was the bottle of wine waiting for me in my room on arrival, although I decided on the in-room cup of tea to relax on my large balcony.
My spacious marble bathroom came with walk-in rainfall shower but after a long day travelling it’s nice to take advantage of the separate stand-alone bathtub for a relaxing soak.

Wining and dining
The hotel has numerous bars and restaurants. I loved the Kymata, which overlooks the beach for an al fresco lunch, with Greek salad and lemon chicken being my favourites. In the evening there is live entertainment here, including Greek dancing. There’s music too in the upstairs VIP bar.
Breakfast buffets in the Estia restaurant are lavish with an array of traditional Cypriot and international dishes. Having a chef on hand to rustle up a bespoke omelette too was perfect.
Activities on offer
Beachside yoga classes are available three mornings a week and there are afternoon aquarobics in the pool as well as tennis courts on site. There’s an impressive gym, but I opted for a much-needed massage in the Elixir Spa (€60 for 45 minutes).
With outdoor and indoor pools plus the sea on your doorstep, there are plenty of options for water lovers.
But my favourite activity is the ‘sip and paint’ art class. Taking inspiration from my surroundings, I sip on a glass of white, concentrating on creating my own masterpiece which makes a unique holiday souvenir.
