Last month AVI-8 introduced their latest collaboration, this time with the Imperial War Museums (IWM). Founded in 1917 and based in Lambeth Road, London, this British national museum was created to record the civil and military war effort and sacrifice of the United Kingdom and its Empire during the First World War. Since 2012 the museum also provides for and encourages the study and understanding of the history of modern war and wartime experience.
This new partnership celebrates the museum’s mission to collect the stories and objects that give an insight into people’s experiences of war and preserve them for future generations to study and learn from. As the world’s leading authority on conflict and its impact, the IWM is committed to preserving and sharing these stories, something that aligns perfectly with AVI-8’s dedication to aviation heritage through their detailed timepieces.
It therefore follows that this exclusive capsule collection of four iconic watches is inspired by some of the most legendary aircrafts that include the Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane and P51 Mustang, with each watch encapsulating the spirit of its namesake aircrafts, meticulously crafted to honour their legacy.

The design of the Hawker Hurricane Carey Dual Time, P-51 Mustang Blakeslee Chronograph, Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph and Spitfire Lock Chronograph commemorate the bravery and innovation of the wartime aviators.
The Hawker Hurricane Carey Dual Time edition has a 43.5mm stainless steel case fitted with an anti-reflective mineral lens and genuine dark brown leather strap and is water resistant to 50 metres (164 feet), making it perfect for everyday use.
The P-51 Mustang Blakeslee Chronograph edition timepiece has a 43mm stainless steel case and is also fitted with an anti-reflective coated mineral lens and genuine brown leather strap. The Swiss luminous hands and indexes sit on a black multi-layered dial. It is also water resistant to 50 metres.

The Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph Imperial War Museums edition has a 43.5mm stainless steel case fitted to a genuine black leather stap. It has a mineral lens with anti-reflective coating and multi-layered dial with Swiss luminous hands. It is also water resistant to 50 metres.
The fourth watch in the collection is the Spitfire Lock Chronograph edition, which has a slightly smaller 42mm stainless steel case and multi-layered dial and stainless steel fixed bezel and pull out bulbous-shaped crown, fitted to genuine black leather strap. As with the other three watches, it is also water resistant to 50 metres.
The AVI-8 x Imperial War Museums four watch collection is available from avi-8.co.uk, priced from £210 to £285. As with all AVI-8 watches, they come in a very nice individually created presentation box and have a two-year warranty.
