New Orient Star M34 F8 Date

Orient Star M34 F8 Date

Orient Star has launched the M34 F8 Date, a practical three-hand date timepiece that features the watchmaker’s latest design and movement and the flagship of the Contemporary Collection M34.

This new collection consists of two versions: a white dial model available in a limited edition of 160 pieces and a regular blue dial model.

The unique dial design has been inspired by the Perseid meteor shower from the Perseus constellation and is fitted with a state-of-the-art high-performance movement mounted with a silicon escape wheel which has become one of Orient Star’s signature technologies since first making an appearance in the 2021 Skeleton model and has been designed to showcase the company’s in-house watchmaking system using advanced technologies.

The traditional dial design comprises of a three-hand dial of hour, minute and centre seconds. There is also a date display at 3 o’clock, while Orient Star’s original power reserve indicators sit at 12 o’clock. The dial also features a hand-carved pattern depicting Perseid meteor showers. The limited edition white dial model depicts a meteor showering down in the dawning sky, giving the impression of auspicious light, while the blue dial on the regular model depicts the night sky and is expressive of the deep blue universe. This has been achieved by using Epson’s optical multilayer technology which creates a colour tone effect on a metal plate and controls light reflectance and transmittance through multiple layers of nano-thin transparent film to produce this special effect which cannot be achieved with normal paintwork.

The M34 F8 Date gives high accuracy of +15 seconds to -5 seconds per day and has a power reserve of 60 hours. The watch’s improved torque facilitates better movement of the long hands, and the movement itself can be seen through the see-through sapphire crystal caseback.

The 40mm stainless steel case has been inspired by the Greek hero Perseus and is fitted to an elegant metal bracelet made of high quality stainless steel with a trifold deployant buckle and push button release. The dual curve sapphire crystal lens has a super anti-reflective coating, and the watch is water resistant to 100 metres (330 ft), making the M34 F8 Date a perfect every day, practical watch.

The limited edition white dial M34 F8 Date is available to buy via www.orientwatch.co.uk priced at £2,199.99 and the regular blue dial model will be available at the end of July 2024.
