The Red Sea, Mediterranean and Adriatic are among the destinations that will be visited by Emerald Yacht Cruises’ (www.emeraldyachtcruises.co.uk) first vessel Emerald Azzurra.
The new ocean line – a sister company to river cruise operator Emerald Waterways – has unveiled full details for the maiden season of its 100-passenger superyacht which debuts in 2022.
Built in response to the growing interest in small ship cruising, Emerald Azzurra has 50 cabins and suites: 88 per cent with balconies or terraces. The ship will have a gym and spa and offer watersports including paddle boarding and snorkelling.
The inaugural season will start on January 28, 2022, with the seven-night Best of the Red Sea round-trip cruise from Aqaba in Jordan. The sailing will feature visits to Nuweibah, Hurghada, Safaga and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt before travelling to Eilat in Israel. Shore excursion highlights include the chance to visit ancient St Catherine’s Monastery on the Sinai Peninsula, a glass-bottom boat trip in Naama Bay, Sharm el-Sheikh and an eco-experience at an Israeli kibbutz.
Other itineraries include the week-long Greek Island and Turkish Coastline cruise with ports of call including Rhodes, Amorgos and Mykonos. Passengers can hike to the UNESCO-listed Monastery of St John on the Aegean island of Patmos and join a sightseeing bike tour of Kusadasi on Turkey’s western coast. Other excursions on offer include a visit to a farmers’ market visit followed by a cooking class in Bodrum, Turkey and scuba diving off Rhodes.
Shore excursions, which are geared around insightful and authentic experiences, are all included in the fare and other trips on the 2022 programme include an exclusive concert at a Croatian church and a mussel cooking demonstration following by a tasting at an Albanian restaurant.
