AVI-8 has introduced a collection of special edition timepieces in a unique collaboration with Airfix, the UK’s oldest manufacturer of scale model kits, representing a union of passionate craftsmen, historians, hobbyists and enthusiasts who are all dedicated to replicating history’s most important and notable air mechanical marvels.
In the same way that Airfix fosters a community around its brand, AVI-8 also takes great pride in narrating the compelling stories of remarkable individuals and machinery in military aviation, meaning that each watch in this unique partnership pays tribute to shared values, enthusiasm and the iconic aircraft referenced in each collection.
Airfix models are created with meticulous attention to detail and design integrity, encapsulating precision engineering and aesthetics which very much mirrors the commitment of AVI-8 who honour the aircraft of 20th century military aviation. This exclusive partnership has created unique watches that commemorate the Airfix brand that align seamlessly with a carefully chosen selection of AVI-8 timepieces that highlight significant aircraft and moments in military aviation history.
Each of the five new timepieces merge classic AVI-8 styling with a respectful nod to the iconic Airfix logo and branding and come beautifully packaged, reminiscent of the familiar boxes that house the carefully detailed kits the company is well known for.
This special collection is made up of five AVI-8 classic watches that feature the model company’s distinguished branding and include the Spitfire Smith Automatic Airfix Edition in Granite Black, the Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph Airfix Edition in Deco Grey, the Spitfire Lock Chronograph Airfix Edition in Raven Black, the Dambuster Gibson Dual Time Chronograph Airfix Edition in Hazard Red and finally the Hawker Hurricane Carey Dual Time Airfix Edition in Silve White.
All five watches feature a variety of movements including Japanese Meca-Quartz Chronograph, Dual Time Feature and Automatic with 3 Hands Date. The stainless steel cases also vary in size from 42mm to 43.5mm. However, all five are water resistant to 50 metres making them a practical everyday wear.
The AVI-8 x Airfix collection will be available to buy from 17th May 2024 at Avi-8.co.uk as well as at select retail partners, priced from £210 to £335 depending on which edition you choose.
