AVI-8 recently launched the Hawker Harrier Matador Chronograph, which is the latest addition to their bestselling Harrier watch collection.

The iconic and innovative Harrier ‘Jump Jet’ became legendary for its revolutionary vertical take-off and landing capability, allowing it to operate from short runways and making it perfect for use on aircraft carriers. It was nicknamed the Matador after the Spanish Navy’s renowned variant, recognised for its distinguished missions. And so, this new timepiece pays homage to a much loved and accomplished aircraft.

Much like the Hawker Harrier’s unique vertical take-off and landing abilities, the Hawker Harrier Matador Chronograph is designed to be both functional and elegant. For example, the case back resembles the turbine blades of the Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine which was at the heart of the Harrier jet. In much the same way, the precise Japanese quartz chronograph movement the beating heart of the Hawker Harrier Matador Chronograph, providing reliability and paying tribute to aviation’s legacy through modern craftsmanship.

Each layered dial showcases intricate gears and wheels, giving the sensation of a watch that is in constant motion on your wrist, while the luminous hands and indexes make it easier to tell the time in poor light.

The 44mm stainless steel case with its fixed bezel and pull out crown, has an anti-reflective coated mineral lens and is water resistant to 50 metres. It comes fitted to a genuine premium quality leather strap with buckle, making this a robust and practical everyday watch for the adventurer and aviation enthusiast.

The AVI-8 Hawker Harrier Matador Chronograph is available in four colours: Storm Grey, Desert Black, Slate Blue and Viper Green, and can be purchased at AVI-8.co.uk, priced from £220 to £235, and comes with a two-year warranty.
