Marella Cruises is the latest line to announce a programme of sailings around the UK shores this summer. The company, which is part of the TUI holiday group, joins more than 10 other cruise operators that will be offering a special summer season to UK passengers.
Family-friendly Marella Explorer and the line’s adult-only ship Marella Explorer 2 will sail on three to 12-night cruises from Southampton and Newcastle respectively, with various ports of call along the way. The sailings will run from June through to September and bookings for the Southampton itineraries open on April 16th and the Newcastle cruises will go on sale at the end of the month.
Southampton itineraries include the three-night Sail the South Coast cruise, with visits to Dover and Portland, and the 11-night Sail the Irish Sea, including stops at Greenock, Belfast, Liverpool, Holyhead, Dublin and Cobh. Newcastle sailings will feature a number of Scottish itineraries taking in Invergordon, Kirkwall and Edinburgh.
The cruises are open to UK residents and adults will be required to have had two Covid-19 jabs and under-18s, excluding infants, will be required to have proof of negative test.
Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruise TUI UK & Ireland, said:
“After pausing our operations for more than year, we are delighted to announce our UK summer programme and welcome our wonderful customers back onboard our ships. The safety and well-being of both our crew and passengers remains our priority which is why we have vaccination and testing protocols for all sailings from UK ports this summer.
“Domestic sailings are a great step for the cruise industry and have given us the opportunity to take our customers to new destinations full of culture and history whilst still being close to home. We’re looking forward to this new adventure on the British seas and are dedicated to making sure our customers have the most memorable and exciting cruise with us.”
