When tasting Twisted Stout, the usual island intensity of Smokehead comes disguised in sweet aromas of chocolate and treacle toffee, perhaps best described as maritime air meeting a good pint on the shore. It is somewhat unexpected and unusual, unsettling the senses.
The full-on flavour is both hot and soothing at the same time. Salty smoke makes its way around dry roasted nuts, toasted marshmallow, vanilla ice-cream and dare I say, a fresh pot of coffee.
