Orient Watches recently launched a brand-new Mako Diver design model with a chronograph function in a unique green colourway which is exclusive to the UK Market and part of the new Mako Chronograph collection. The diver design has continued to gain popularity since it was first introduced back in 2004 and has since become synonymous with Orient.
This is the first solar-powered chronograph in the Mako family and features a three-dial design and 200m water resistance. Powered by sunlight, the Orient Mako Chronograph Solar is equipped with the convenience of a solar-powered battery that is powered by converting energy obtained from sunlight and other light sources into electrical energy, meaning that there is no longer a need to replace the watch’s battery. Charging works through the three cleverly designed subdials: a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock, and a small second subdial at 9 o’clock. When fully charged, the watch has a power reserve of around 6 months.
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 42.8mm and is 13.1mm thick, with the case back featuring a Dolphin icon, while the front is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass lens. The watch comes with a 22mm wide stainless steel bracelet and trifold deployant buckle with a push button and security latch.
Inspired by the first Orient Mako model, this new timepiece features an Arabic numeral that adorns the 12 o’clock position. Fitted with a uni-directional rotating bezel with six grooves common to the series, it also has a metal dial with a fine lustre finish. Luminous Light is used for the numeral, indices and hands, so you are able to read the time even in poor light and darkness.
The green metallic textured dial is exclusive to the UK market and comes with black subdials, enhancing the sporty design that characterises chronograph watches.
This new Chronograph Orient Mako Diver timepiece brings together the two design elements of diver and chronograph as well as the convenience of a solar-powered battery, making it the perfect watch for any style or occasion, being both sporty and casual.
The new Orient Mako Chronograph Solar is priced at £324.99 and is available to buy at: www.orientwatch.co.uk .
